I live in Oxford and presently work in The Library of The Queen's College, Oxford. I recently completed a Master's degree in Information and Library Studies by distance learning from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. I worked previously at the Bodleian Library and on the island of Lundy in the Bristol Channel.
Before coming to Oxford, via Lundy, I studied for my first degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Durham between 1996 and 1999 where I specialised in Natural Language Engineering and Predicate Logic. I was brought up in Longhope, a village on the edge of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.
In my free time, I pursue my hobbies which include church bellringing, collecting books and inland waterways. The Lundy Companion is the title of the book that I published in 2001, a gazetteer and walking guide all about my favourite place. It is now out of print and I'm preparing the second edition.
I'm the owner of a narrowboat named Tardebigge - here is a gratuitous picture of her.
